Pro*C version 1.5 and Oracle V7

DOS PC environment:
I'm having trouble linking the sample.c program that comes with the Pro*C documentation set 1.5. I'm getting a syntax error in reference to line 3 of the sample module definition file, EXETYPE DOS4. The documentation, page 3-4 bottom, states that the DOS4 argument should be used for all versions of DOS.
any ideas?
