M I S C - 9 3 FIRST ANNUAL MID-CONTINENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS CONFERENCE at CENTURY THEATER of the MEMORIAL UNION and the Industrial Agriculture and Communications Center North Dakota State University on May 3 and 4, 1993
The First Annual MID-CONTINENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS CONFERENCE (MISC-93) will be held at North Dakota State University on May 3 and 4, 1993. MISC-93 will focus on mid-continent information system students, who are often unable to attend information systems conferences due to time and cost limitations.
MISC student attendees will learn about the information system developments and will afford themselves the opportunity to initiate interaction with other students and faculty early in their careers. A theme of the MISC conferences will be the synergism of teaching and research. Research and learning occur very effectively when student and faculty groups work together on important open problems. This mentorstudent interaction has long been a driving force in information system innovation. With the advent of multimedia distance learning and collaboration technologies, this teaching-research activity, initiated at MISC, can be carried on remotely throughout the year.
The invited presentations are:
"Future Directions for SQL, Information Systems and the IBM AS/400 System"
by William Davidson of IBM.
"The Current Status of Multidatabase Systems"
by Dr. Kenneth Barker of University of Manitoba;
"Communication Networks Present & Future"
by Dr. Ronald Vetter of Moorhead State University and North Carolina State University; and
"Schema Integration in Heterogeneous Distributed Database Systems"
by Cyrus Azarbod of IBM and Mankato State University.
