Oracle CASE Dictionary and ORACLE7 Support:

CASE*Dictionary V5.0.22 runs on, and supports, Oracle RDBMS V6. It has been production on most platforms for over a year. As have the associated CASE*Generator for SQL*Forms V2 and CASE*Generator for SQL*ReportWriter V1 and CASE*Designer V1.1.

These products need minor amendments to get them to *run* correctly on ORACLE7. These changes have been made and you will begin to see CASE*Dictionary V5.0 and related products appear on various platforms running on ORACLE7. Hence, the VMS announcement.

CASE*Dictionary V5.0 generates some very useful DDL etc that you can usefully use to create ORACLE7 databases including declarative integrity constraints and check constraints (use SET COMPATABILITY V6) but it doesn't support all the new things that ORACLE7 offers.

Oracle CASE Dictionary 5.1 (note the minor name change) introduces full support for the design and implementation of ORACLE7 databases, ie full support for the design and implementation of distributed, client-server, database triggers, procedures, snapshots, etc, etc.

Oracle CASE Dictionary 5.1 is undergoing trials currently and will be available production on MS-Windows and Sun Workstations in September 1993.

CASE*Designer V1.1 will continue to run with Oracle CASE Dictionary 5.1, and is also being ported to MS-Windows.

Oracle Forms Generator 4 (note the name change and the fact that we have synchronised version numbers with Forms) will generate/regenerate/reverse engineer Oracle Forms 4 and will also be available production on MS-Windows and Sun Workstations in September 1993.

CASE*Dictionary Summary

When Version Status Runs On Supports

Now	5.0.22	Prod.	RDBMS 6 RDBMS 6
Soon	5.0.?? Prod. ORACLE7 RDBMS 6, but DDL useful with ORACLE7
Sept	5.1	Prod.	ORACLE7 ORACLE7

I will post more detail regarding Oracle CASE Dictionary 5.1 and Oracle Forms Generator 4 during the next few days.
