The version of reality I was exposed to goes something like this:

Oracle CASE Dictionary v5.0 is currently production, with lots of cool features above and beyond 4.1. 5.0 was stable when I used it, and the Generators that come with it seem first rate. In particular, the ability to Reverse Engineer an existing SQL*Form came in handy.

However, v5.0 will not execute correctly (supportably) against a v7 version of Oracle's RDBMS.

The planned v5.1 will execute correctly. Furthermore, it will (I hear) generate integrity declarations, stored procedures, triggers, roles, and like that, plus all the things 5.0 did (tablespaces, indices, etc.)

Some people who've been using beta 5.1 have said good things about it; I'm looking forward to using it soon.

HOWEVER, in contradiction to what was said earlier in this thread, v5.1 is *not* production anyplace (so far as I know). And 5.0, last I heard, did NOT run against a v7 RDBMS on any platform, VAX or otherwise. Was this support person in the CASE group (whom you can trust on this) or in the VMS group (whom you cannot)?
