We run our Windowed client using either SQL_NET async or SQL_NET TCP. The application (JAM - JAM/DBi Application) does not know about the physical layer interface. I use .INI file settings to tell Oracle which driver to connect to and away it goes.

You will need the appropriate Oracle driver, but I don't think you will need the PRO-C with the latest version of the DBI. All of the processing at that level is taken care of for you.
