I did not quite catch the difference between the first and second scenarios that you described. Anyway, one possibility may be due to the import utility trying to create views in the wrong order (ie views that are dependent on other views not yet imported). That problem has been addressed in version 7. In the meantime, the workaround is to attempt a second import against the existing database with IGNORE=N.
