Dynamic Sorting / SQL*FORMS

Hi , I have a one table form. It is a multi-record block. I have implemented dynamic sorting by using the example in the Advanced SQL*FORMS concepts book. It works fine.

My question:

When the user uses the option of a colon (:) in a field to bring up their own "where clause" to fill in,

an error occurs when the query is executed. What happens is that the "order by" gets written to the sql statement before the users "where statement"...

Does anyone know of a work around this? This form works great otherwise. But occasionally the want to use the colon , and type in:

where fielda is null
