Question on Screen log files

This may be a silly question or it may have been posted earlier, SQL*Forms package provides for a -w and -i command line option to save the screen in a screen log file. My question is what is the format of this log file ? how does one view it ? what is it used for? Have anyone used it and for what ? curiosity is killig me. Your patience is appreciated.
