Can't get audit trail to work table access

I can't seem to get ORACLE to write a record to USER_AUDIT_TRAIL when accessing a given table. I've set audit_trail = true in my init.ora and user_tab_audit_opts shows that I have used the audit command properly Is there something else I need to do? I'm running ORACLE 6 on an NCR 3330.
