Version 6.0.30 of Oracle has a limit of 65,000+ characters for the long raw datatype.

I talked to an Oracle technical representative and he reported that version 7 of the database engine has a limit of 2GB for the long raw datatype. (Those guys must have written some code)

I am assuming, that if I am using version 6.0.30 of the Oracle RDBMS and I try to store an image that is larger then 65k in the database, I am going to be out of luck!! At least until 1995 when version 7 is finally ported to the NeXT. (That is no hack on Oracle at all. Just a simple fact that NeXT will be at the bottom of the port list.)

So, my options are to either wait until Oracle 7 is released or store the images elsewhere and manage them through Pro*C.
