Managing array/matrix data?

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has used Oracle to manage array- or matrix-structured data. I am researching DBMSes to manage a large collection of time-series data, which can be thought of as one-dimensional arrays, and other multi-dimenstional data structures.
