One of our Oracle-sid died mysteriously yesterday. I cannot bring it   back up again.

The SID-id is "develop". It seems to be choking in reading it's control   file, and thinks some other process is using the same id. I tried   to reboot the machine, but result was the same error.

Oracle hotline was called; they don't know how to resolve this either.

  SQLDBA> startup
  ORACLE instance started.
ORA-00205: error in identifying control file 'cntrldevelop.dbf'   ORA-09782: sfifi: another instance has the same database mounted.   Attempting to shutdown instance........ORACLE instance shut down.   SQLDBA>
-This is in my alert log:

-This is in my trace file:

OPIRIP: Uncaught error 447. Error stack: ORA-00447: fatal error in background process ORA-00472: PMON process terminated with error OPIRIP: Detached process complete.

Oracle support said to reinstall. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail to me and I will summarize.

Thanks!
