   Howdy,

I have been using ORACLE using only one account (the oracle
account used for installing) till now.Now when trying to
assign users using the ops$user_name, I am getting the
following error (on doing sqlplus from the ops user's account)..

  Enter user-name:
ERROR: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available   ORA-07318: smsget: open error when opening sgadef.dbf file.   SunOS Error: 13: Permission denied

The database has been opened in shared mode and the shared   memory segment has "rw" permissions only for oracle.   Also I've set the env. variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID and other   variables
  appropriately.

  Thanks in advance,

  Venkatesh Nakkala
