Front end packages for Oracle

I am new the world of Oracle. I am looking for information on what packages exists for Oracle front ends.
We are currently looking at installing a database on a UNIX box with remote PCs and/or Mac's needing to access the database.
Can a consistent user interface be provided by SQL*Forms? What protocols are supported for SQL*Net?
Any hints and information would be appreciated.
