CREATE TABLE/INDEX parameters

We have created many tables (about 200). Each table and index have been created with default parameters (INITIAL, NEXT, MINEXTENTS, MAXEXTENTS, PCTINCREASE). I know there is a formula that can be applied, according to the record size, the number of record etc... and evaluate the values of those parameters.
I looked into the DBA guide and the performance tuning guide and I didn't found such formula. I remembre seeing it in a previous version of Oracle for VAX/VMS. Does any one have a clue on that?
