Help with compiling XWindows-to-C-to-Oracle

Okay, here it is:
I am designing a cute XWindows front-end for an ORACLE database. Fine. The front end is okay, works, blah blah. The problem is that I need to write C code to access the database, said code being called by the front-end. BUT: Oracle does not seem to like not having a main() function wrapped around its access section. This rather tends to upset things. Can anyone out there help?
