Sql*Dba return codes

Oracle 6.0 on Unix

Does anyone have a good idea on how to check if sqldba commands went OK? I know I can check on the "Statement processed" message, but this message does not come if NLS are set to not "American ....". And this means I have to spool everything to a file and later grep that file.
Please help. Now I have to doublecheck everything. Thanks
