Apologies for the cross-post. Followups set to comp.databases.oracle.misc

My environment:
Windows XP SP1. I have adminstrator access.

I am installing Oracle client 9i on this machine. Developer 6i has been previously installed. Also, JDK1.4.2 has been previously installed.

When I launch any of the following:

a) Autorun.exe
b) setup.exe in the root folder
c) setup.exe from install/win32

from the CD.

I get a popup window saying:

Java Virual Machine Launcher
Main class not found. Program exiting!

As I understand it, the Oracle installation CD should use its own JVM to run the setup program and this should run out of the box.

I have also tried opening a command window, setting the CLASSPATH and PATH variables to null and running the setup program from the command line. I get the same results as above.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
