  1. learn to use internet searches (aka 'googling') [ This is a frequently asked question, FAQ, answered in this forum, or c.d.o.server before numerous times ]
  2. realize c.d.oracle is dead; use cdo.server, cdo.tools and cdo.misc for technical questions, cdo.marketplace for promotions and advertisements.
  3. get an OTN account - costs nothing, you will not be spammed, and allows access to (almost) all software and documentation: http://otn.oracle.com
  4. Now that you have found the documentation, start reading the Concepts manual.
  5. Buy a good book on Oracle; I like Thomas Kyte "expert one-on-one". Read the first three chapters.
  6. Repeat point 4 and 5 at least once.
  7. find out in what direction you want to develop.
  8. Download the server software; install on a home PC, play with it. Trust what you find - don't believe anyone, especially the one whom shall remain unnamed, but uses dinosaur technology

Anything else (like more good books, sites) could/should be found googling the archives, and lurking this newsgroup.
