The routine I pasted is generic because it takes the last query executed on the block where the cursor is located. If you use IE, the file will be automatically opened by Excel inside the browser. It can be adapted to run on the DB server too and if you have Apache/MOD_PLSQL you don't even need to write to an external file, just set the MIME header and output everything to the buffer via HTP.PRINT.
