whois.org on the domain. Not that that is necessarily accurate, especially in the case of an actual bad guy, but normally somewhat accurate. First place I check if a purported commercial website has no phone or address. I'm always amazed when people are mad that they've been exposed (I'm not referring to this thread).

My comment about Russians in this thread was not intended as a troll of relcom, or to cast aspersions on Russians in general, sorry it came across that way. I only intended it to be a comment on how different cultures have different mores, and that some business cultures in transition do have issues with ethics. I've done the same thing to mainland Chinese and others, yes even in the US, who have appeared to be attempting to hide the source of their programs. Such an attempt is a negative to me. And yet, a few places I've worked do the same thing, and I know they are ok (or at least were when I was there) - in those cases, I think it is just people thinking they need a web presence, just because everyone else has a web presence - they're not places likely to be dealing with a large random customer base downloading $100 software. But at least they have a phone number!
