There are [at least] 3 parts to Oracle Applications (actually most apps)

  • functional
  • programer/technical
  • DBA/technical

Each of these is a significant subject to absorb. You need to decide which is your goal & go for it.

If programmer/technical then learn SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Oracle Reports, Oracle Forms, JDeveloper, XML. Start this sequence with O'Reilly's 'Mastering Oracle SQL', followed by 'Learning Oracle PL/SQL', Que Publishing's 'Oracle Applications - Special Edition' (it's out of date, but has a LOT of relevant advice), 'Effective Oracle By Design', Oracle's 'Concepts manual' for your version of the database, 'Application Developer's Guide - Fundementals'. That's neeed before you start!

If DBA then learn SQL, Oracle's Concepts manual for your version of the database, Oracle's Database Administrator's Guide, and then sign up for a DBA course.

Can't help you with the Functional, although the Que book mentioned is an excellent resource to steer you in the right thought process (but NOT the current implementation).
