oracle portlet devel confusion

It seems oracle has a portal devel kit (pdk) that can be used for portlet devel and a newer portlet standard api kit based on jsr 168. Which one should i choose and why?

Is the older pdk compatible and a superset of the jsr 168 standard? Does the older pdk support wsrp?
