Designer - version

I have installed Oracle Designer 6i on my personal computer. I'd like to make changes in repository which is on the server at my university (also 6i).
When I was trying to login I got this message:

I understand, that server is to old, but of course I can't make changes on the server.
Is it posible to configure Designer client, to make posible working with older versions of servers.
