how can i put the result of a sql-statement in a file instead of screen

I am using sql+ from oracle
I would like to put the result of a sql-statement in a file.
like: select * from xy where ... ???? which parameter do I have to use that this result will be in a file instead of the screen.
How can I manage this problem?
