I think we've been through this question several times on this forum ... XP Home is somewhat limited in it's ability to support Oracle server products. Works for some, fails for others.

You talk about XP Pro & Win 98 - totally unrelated to XP Home other than the manufacturer. (My gawd, this is like the discussion about DB2's code base!)

AFAIK, Oracle explicitly says 'no support' to XP Home, ''yes' to XP Pro and better.

And their Oracle9i Release 1 Personal Edition (100% compatible with Enterprise Edition) has a Win98 version. So that has certified support.
