Looks like a single character - do you have the BIG5 as default (O/S level) language?

That's not the problem - as you state, the reports are OK. And reports use these settings - other, non-oracle programs do not. Does RTF support BIG5? How about your Acrobat (formatter) - is it suited for BIG5, or just single byte?
