I'll take a shot at this:
It seems that part of the Oracle xsql product is missing or the correct class version is missing.
Why don't you try a grep on all the jar files in the Oracle home(s) and
see if it turns op the
Components.oracle.xml.xsql.v9_0_2_0_0.PreRequisiteVar class
If you find it make sure it is in the CLASSPATH prior to running the installer.
Disclaimer: I am not at all sure this will work but this is where I'd begin my debugging efforts.
I do assume that the version of the product you attempt to install is supported on the version and level of operating system you use.
I also assume that all the prereqs have been met, including setting the kernel parms.
Just to satisfy my curiosity (I never installed the developer suite, only JDeveloper and the Oracle Client for PRO*C): what part of the suite is it you want to use on Linux?
