Forms and external Application

Hello all,
Problem: User1 has initiated a Session and Transaction over Forms.
Now User1 wants to start an external Program. It is important that the
current Session is tranferred into the external Program
and a data transfer between Forms and the external Program is
executed.
Is it possible to adress the fields in Forms with an external Program
(VB, VC++ or something else) without closing the Transaction?
(Oracle 8.05, D2K, Forms 4.5)
