I have a system specified in Designer 6i. It contains the definition for all my tables and views. For each table and each column in those tables, I've filled in the 'Description', 'Notes', and 'User/Help Text' fields of the Documentation/Help properties.

I've just generated DDL scripts and was suprised to find the
'COMMENT ON TABLE' and 'COMMENT ON COLUMN' missing from the DDL scripts.
After digging a little I discoved that that information is generated from the
'Comment' field of the Documentation property.

Is there any way to generate the schema comments from the Notes or Description properties?

If not, is there any way, short of cut-and-paste, of copying the Notes/Description properties to the Comment property? I would really, really rather not do this manually so I'm open to fiddling with the underlying Designer schema/data.

Thanks for your help,
Kevin. Received on Tue Oct 08 2002 - 22:05:33 CEST
