Thanks for the advice. I'm learning this only to sell my product to a customer that has an oracle backend. So i'm not looking for job security. However, your points are very well taken that I may be in an environment where SQL*PLUS is the only tool to work with. In this case, I'd be up a creek without a GUI paddle.
