Forms & OLE2 vs VBA for MS Word 2000

I am new to Oracle Forms. I have scrounged up some material on OLE 2.0 for MS products and White Papers from Oracle. The material seems dated however.

Is OLE 2.0 still a viable method of creating merged documents from database information using Word? And is there any decent reading out there on the subject?
