What do you mean '...it does not seem to want to install itself...' What error message(s) are you getting, if any?

Maybe you just have a P4 machine, and suffering from a known bug -- the Installer GUI does not come up, which can be easily fixed. Provide more info, maybe someone might be able to help you.
