Hi

[Quoted] As you surely know, 6i will be the last version of Oracle Developer in the client/server platform.

I have nothing against Web forms, in fact I think it is a very interesting feature, because it lets the customer *choose* what platform run its applications. Till 6i...

I have many customers that use it. Some of them liked the fact (but hope the 9i version be more robust in the web...), but some did not.

Those customers that didn't liked don't want to move to the web, be because of their applications don't fit, be because they are intimidated by the technologic mess that is the internet platform.

They are pressing me to advice them. One of them are seriously thinking about developing the new applications in other development tool (powerbuilder or delphi), while others are still lost in the vacuum.

I think I can take 3 positions:
- Think seriously about choosing another dev.tool.

  • Wait more some months to see if Oracle changes its market strategy.
  • Continue using Dev 6i, what's the problem if Oracle will discontinue it? Many systems still run in Forms 4, and even in Forms 3!

What do you think? Are you in the same situation?

Thanks
Luis Cabral
