[Quoted] Hi there,

First of all u should remove all oracle products from ur computer, I [Quoted] mean Oracle 8 and if u have installed Dev 2000, also remove it....u will have to manually remove the program icons, their directories and then you should go into registry i.e., regedit at the command prompt and then remoce oracle from the nodes which come under software nodes in two main nodes...I don't remember their names so u will have to search for them in registry, one is probably local_machine (any way u can find them...its pretty easy)
After this change the system date of ur computer to year 1999 and then first of all install Dev 2000 (release 6) in the default directory(orawin95)...this will be installed easily..without any complications. ok after this start installing Oracle 8 in the same directory...u will be prompted with several messages that the current version of Oracle is old so would u like to continue...all u have to do is to click the Yes button...amother prompt will be displayed asking u to make changes to the AUTOEXEC.BAT...u should also click Yes... ok after installing Oracle 8 to about 30-40% (status bar), an error will be diaplayed in a modal window and ur installation will be

halted...go onto the system tray, there will be a window with a Dos
icon...somply right click on the window and select the close window
option...u will be asked do u want to continue...u should select yes
and then the installation will proceed till end and the error window will still be on ur screen. Change the system date to present date and then reboot the system, the error window will be gone. OK now once again reinstall the Oracle 8 database just like the ususal way and keep pressing all the Yes options and this time there wont be any error displayed and ur installation will be complete. You can check this afterwards by connecting to the database via developer 2000 forms or reports etc.
I'm also using Oracle on WIN ME and beleive me this works!!! do let me know if u still have any problems...

regards

Hassan
