I have...
A redhat 6.2++ dell inspiron 4000 256MB ram. Oracle 8.1.7 up and working fine

...I am trying to install Oracle Reports 6.1.

I am also having a few problems finding doc. I found some in the unixdoc/Developer/Output directory of the tarball I got from Oracle's www. The install guide is called linux_dev.pdf. It's a little more complicated than the average README, but at least it's something, hope that helps.

I have three additional questions if you please...

The linux dev|install guide seems to read that I cant have the reporting platform and the DB I am reporting on... on the same box. Can I get by just using separate SID, or do I need to haul two laptops with me to do demos? If so why not go with crystal and drag Linux and NT around with me?

Also, it also seems like the root of the tarball is such that I should untar it in $ORACLE_HOME on my box. Is this the case, or should I drive on with running the install from my home dir as uid oracle?

Anyone know of a good HOWTO for Oracle Reports? Received on Mon Nov 26 2001 - 03:42:03 CET
