help! I can't connect from enterprise to server!

I installed oracle server, oracle 8i client and oracle enterprise.

I can connect to server from oracle 8i client, but i can't connect to server from enterprise.

I tried by "scott", "system" and "sys" accounts but i'm not able to connect.

Can anybody tell me how i can do?
