iAS Jserv - out of memory

Hi,
we're deploying a mapping application onto 9iAS with JServ but it keeps on blowing the memory (we have a 1GB sun box).
we have wrapper.bim.parameter set and also GC set to true.
However, the garbage colector doesn't seem to be agressive enough and the memory isn't released quickly enough from Jserv.
Does anyone have any experince of this or some hints/tips on how to get around the problem?
