Re: Fasttrack 4.0 - Oracle 8i. bugs and errors

The caveat for using 'Oracle 8i Certified Professional, DBA Certification Exam Guide from Oracle Press' should be:

"Doubt everything, trust nothing"

This book is riddled with errors, some trivial, some fundamental. The errors extend to the Fasttrack Express stuff on the CD with the additional annoyance that the Fasttrack software doesn't seem to work too well.

My experience has been that you need to dive into the Oracle documentation frequently to double-check what the book claims. The Oracle documentation is freely downloadable from OTN in PDF format. Which makes me wonder why anyone should have to have to pay C$150 or so for a book which is in dire need of (a) proof-reading and (b) editing.
