FYI Note: This has been through Oracle TAR and resolved.

Recently we noticed that an overnight export job was failing during the processing of a partitioned table. The job is controlled by EM and the failure occurred in same place for a number of weeks then "moved" to the previous partition.

The error given was EXP-00030 : Unexpected EOF while reading file.

The table could be exported using EXP or individually under EM.

The data could be read OK. All selects OK. (Data is imutable at this point).

The job was exporting to a number of files with a 1.9Gb limit.

Nice people at Oracle support suggested all sorts of things to no avail.

Then I added a further OUTPUT file to the list and BINGO, it worked. Seems the fault was in the OUTPUT not the INPUT. The error is just a little unhelpfull.

PS - I use export because RMAN runs out of space a before it completes. The database really is not that big and once I can could get a primary backup to work I can use incrementals to shorten the time and space for the others. Received on Sat Jul 21 2001 - 23:50:21 CEST
