Hi all !

Trying to install Oracle 8i on a computer running Windows 2000 prof., I always get the same error message.

After the end of the installation (minimal or complete), all the services are installed, not running but in "manual startup" mode. Trying to start them, I get the message "Access is denied - Error Code 5". Impossible to start the database service or the listener service. Same error message for all services. ! "access is denied... access is denied... access is denied".
I'm administrator and the installation gave me the ORA_DBA membership. I tried to install and re-install Oracle. Nothing to do. I tried minimal and complete Oracle installation, nothing to do (in the complete one, the webassistant service don't start ("access denied" again)). I tried with Windows 2000 sp 1 and 2. Nothing to do.
How is it possible ?

When I'm installing Oracle, I get a message saying that "a file known to run Windows 2000 correctly was replaced, please insert your Windows 2000 CD to reinstall the original file". Do you think it's the source of my problem ? How to avoid this message ?

What can I do ?

Thanks for all.

Dan.

PS: now, the desintallation don't remove the OracleOraHome81TNSListener service. How to remove it ? Received on Sat Jul 21 2001 - 23:41:17 CEST
