Cannot scroll horizontally in SQL*Plus

Dear all,
I set linesize=500, but I still cannot scroll horizontally to see all the width of the lines, but about only up to 100 characters. The only way to see the full lines is to spool them in a text file. Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance.
