Designer 6i - Version option

Hello,
I am planning a migration of D2k r2.1.1 to Designer 6i and I would like to solicit experiences using the versioning option in Designer 6i. I have read the Oracle Migration guide and planning to enable versioning.
How well does the versioning option work? What issues should I be aware of for migrating a non-versioned repository(D2K r 2.1) to the new version repository?
Any other experiences regarding the migration will also be appreciated.
