Hi!

Platform: Windows NT 4.0 Workstation
Designer 6i, release 2, ver. 6.5.40.5.0, Forms Generator ver. 6.5.40.4.0

I'm having trouble with the width of generated text items.

Example:
I have a character text item with the display width set to 3 in Designer. The generator adds 1 and generates that item wide enough to accept 4 characters. I'm using Courier New font, size 10 (in that font all letters have the same width), and in every item I have unused empty space.

I found preferences ITMMPW (Minimum permitted width) and ITMPPE (Permitted percentage expansion) but they are both set to 0 (factory setting). The preference TXTSCA (Scale factor for date, number and upper case items) is also 0, so that can't be the reason for increasing the width of an item.

If I set width of that item to 2, the generator will generate it with the length of 3, and that's OK, but I recently migrated my repository from Designer/2000 1.3.2 to Designer 6i and I have a lot of forms that I need to regenerate, and I don't want to edit every item and decrease width by 1. And what about the items that need to have length 1? If I put 0 it will generate width 0!

How can I make generator stop adding 1 character to my specified length?

Thanks!
