What error message you get?
Some other suggestions:
Can you connect to apache with the url http://MY_MACHINE:80/pls
Has your machine a domain like my_maschine.deagostini.it?
Is your machine in the file HOSTS?
Is the port correct (7777, 8888)?
The hostname in UPPERCASE is not the problem!
