Designer 6i & Oracle 8.1.6 on same machine

[Quoted] I've had a quick go but the installation of Designer (after Oracle 8i) tells me that the Oracle home must be different from the database home and when I set another home it tells me that the installation must be into the original home !
Can anyone help?
