Problem using Visual Interdev with Oracle 8.1.6: catastrophic failure !

I connect to a DSN Using Visual Interdev 6 (and ODBC for Oracle 8.1.6.2) On some tables, for no apparent reason, i get a "Catastrophic failure" message
(Oracle (8i) 8.1.6 instance running on HPUX 11.B (64Bits))
Could someone tell me if my server or instance or table is not setup properly ? or is it something well known ???
(I'm newbie!!)
