DBD install problem w/Linux and 8i

I have Oracle installed on my Linux server with the ProC compiler option and client software. I have installed the DBI and when installing the DBD I get the error ld cannot find -lsql. I have the LD_LIBRARY_PATH set and all other ORACLE environment variables. Any ideas?
