One thing to be aware of is that any Designer 6i fetches (show all the modules, open a database diagram, etc.) are very, very slow. A 70 table diagram takes over 3 minutes to open on a P650 with 512M of RAM. There is supposed to be a fix at month's end but nothing so far. You will want to be sure this can be fixed before you base a decent-sized project on Designer 6i.
As for best practices, the product is pretty new, but I'd be interested if you turn any up.
