Hi,

[Quoted] [Quoted] I have an export created from an 8.1.6 db residing on NT. I wish to import this database to a 8.1.6. db on solaris.

When I try to do so I get the following output:

--start clipping--

Import: Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production on Wed Nov 22 11:40:38 2000 (c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

Connected to: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production With the Partitioning option
JServer Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production

Export file created by EXPORT:V08.01.06 via conventional path

import done in US7ASCII character set and US7ASCII NCHAR character set export client uses WE8ISO8859P1 character set (possible charset conversion) [Quoted] [Quoted] export server uses WE8ISO8859P1 NCHAR character set (possible ncharset conversion)
. importing SCOTT's objects into SCOTT

. . importing table "XXX_YYY_DATE"
IMP-00020: long column too large for column buffer size (5)
--end clipping--

I have tried increasing the import buffer size (as suggested in the manual) [Quoted] to no avail.

[Quoted] I have successfully imported this into an 8.1.6 database running on NT woth [Quoted] [Quoted] no problems...
but I NEED it on the UNIX box.

I am certain that it is the character set but I am at a loss for how to handle it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
